Nevada cottage food laws

Rules change, so always confirm with the official Nevada source.

The law: Nevada cottage food law, NRS 580.600 through June 30, 2027

What you can sell

Qualifying shelf-stable baked goods, candy, jams/jellies, dry herbs and mixes, nuts, and similar listed cottage foods are allowed.

What you can't sell

Foods requiring temperature control, including refrigerated fillings and frostings, do not qualify.

Do you need a license or permit?

Register with the applicable local food-safety authority before selling. Clark County SNHD charges a one-time nonrefundable $220 in fiscal year 2026/27; fees elsewhere must be confirmed locally.

Sales limits

The commonly cited $35,000 annual gross cap and any current inflation adjustment could not be conclusively verified from directly retrieved official text.

Where you can sell

Current direct-sale restrictions remain in effect until July 2027. Exact online-order, shipping, and interstate restrictions need confirmation from the operative statute or local authority before use.

Label requirements

Federal ingredient, allergen, identity, net-quantity, and business-information labeling applies. Exact Nevada home-kitchen disclaimer wording was not confirmed from the directly retrieved official page.

Good to know

SNHD confirms that AB 352’s new statewide program does not start until July 1, 2027. The official SNHD page returned 200, but the operative legislature page returned 403. Some details on this page could not be fully confirmed from official sources, so check with the state agency before you sell.

Pricing your products

Knowing your real cost per item matters as much as following the law.
